To do so, you must capture regions over the world, and defeat your enemies in battle. The world has about 130 regions open to conquest. The regions have variable income and VP values (set randomly in the Standard scenario) and unknown until conquered or spied upon. Each region not owned by a Major Power usually has an independent Minor country owning and defending it. Each Major country is controlled by a human player or the computer, or is designated neutral and then acts as a Minor country.Hotseat play is possible, with an option to limit to 4.00 minutes the playing time per player. Each game turn represents roughly one season. Game lasts till victory conditions are achieved.Scenarios: game offers 3 scenarios: one starting in the year 1880 with an historical setting, one in 1914 with historical positions, and an open ca-1870 standard where nation only own their starting home territories (free-for-all non-historical) The game has 3 main phases, each player entering them in sequence, i.e. Build Phase (Spring only, with: Army & Navy Construction, Fortification, Economic Aid, Espionage, Subversion), Movement Phase (Army & Navy), and Combat Phase.Gameplay of each phase is rather simple and straightforward, as follows:Army and Navy Build Phase (Spring): Create new armies and fleets in your Supply CentersFortification Phase (Spring): Fortify army units (except in Supply Centers which are already fortified). Economic Aid Phase (Spring): Lend money to other Major countries; which is added to their Treasury. More worryingly doesn't look like anyone is too interested in fixing things like this, potentially abondoned game beware *refund*. This game is fun. Its simple, but good. My only complaint is I wish there was a notification for when another power declairs war on you, and some way to make peace with them. This game is great for anyone who likes genraling or risk style games.. overly simple and crashes every 10 minutes. no strategy invovled really.. So far after two full play throughs the game has a simplistic Risk type feel. You mainly build up fleets or armies and take over your neighbors. This turn based style is mainly about moving and reinforcement. After each you you can fortify your locations and also you can spy on the neighbors to have a good idea of who to attack next. If some of the bigger stategy games are to much for you then this game might just be for you. Think board game risk ++. Hope this is helpful and provides some insight into the game. Sign me up. Unfortunately, the game barely handles on my primary computer. I suffer large interface latency; for example, there is a pronounced time-delay between mousing over something and that something being available to be selected. It's annoying to have to wait 5 seconds when I want to do the fundamental tasks of the game, like build armies or move troops. And the combat experience was just awful, because I wasn't sure who was firing and there was lag and frame-drops abound. This experience drove me to not recommend this game. Almost.I decided to take a more fair approach, and test the game on my laptop. The game runs fine on my laptop. In fact, the game is quite enjoyable on my laptop. I played it long enough until my laptop overheated and crashed, but that's pretty much my fault for living in a hot environment. Actual criticisms for the gameplay stem mostly from the interface feeling awkward in certain spots. For example, when accidentally selecting an option for a region such as moving troops, there is no visible way (that I could find) for cancelling that action. Using the escape key works, but that went against my primary intuition.Also, there is a strange bug when entering values via keyboard for moving troops. It always subtracts one from that value, so when you say to move 50 troops to an area, it only moves 49. For what it's worth, the slider still works fine.Overall, I will have fun with this game. Its super appealing to me and the game is pretty polished. I'm just hoping for the compatability issues and bugs to be worked out so I can enjoy it on my desktop.If the devs see this, my desktop is an AMD FX-6120 @3.4 GHz with a nVidia GeForce GT 630 while my laptop is an intel i7 4700 @ 2.4 GHz with a nVidia Geforce GT 750M.. I downvote it because there is no multiplayer... this kind of game isn´t fun if you can´t play it with your steam friends.... A very fun strategy game. While this game isn't too in-depth I feel this is a positive point. We focus on conquering the world and not spending an hour on every battle. It is like playing a Total War game auto-resolving every battle and not having to build anything. As for those people that say you can't do anything but one turn a year, I say move your darn armies fools. My armies move every turn four times a year. At the start of every year I am buying more armies. Once the game gets going a bit I have two or three armies going conquering the world. Navies are purchasable too and will attack with your troops in certain instances as well as fighting other navies. I usually use them for dropping off troops on other continents and when not doing that bolstering the defenses of my homeland. Recruiting is done at two provinces of your starting areas so defending these are crucial. I enjoyed this game for what it is and it is fun and not impossible to get all the achievements in a reasonable time. If you are still not sure if you will like it buy it on sale and try it out.
